How Do I Dispose of My Inventory?

There are many different reasons you might find yourself needing to dispose of some of your inventory. Here's how Amplifier can help you with that process.

Written by Amplifier

Different clients have different needs around their inventory. Some have lot control and expiration dates that are regulated by the FDA. Some have licensing restrictions. Sometimes certain items don't move for long periods of time and you may want to liquidate them to cut back on storage costs. There are different options available to you in these situations.

FDA-Regulated Products

FDA-Regulated products are items intended for use in or on a human or animal, or for consumption. When past their expiration date, these items must be disposed of following proper regulations which vary dependent on the product. All FDA-Regulated products must be disposed of in a manner consistent with 21 CFR 111. Amplifier can arrange this for a fee.

Licensed Products

Disposing of Licensed products requires certified destruction. This is to prevent secondary-market sales and protect your product. Certified destruction provides a secure and compliant manner to dispose of your licensed goods. Amplifier can assist with arranging certified destruction for a fee.

Small Disposal Orders

Small amounts of product to be disposed may be able to be recycled or discarded in Amplifier's services, but this is subject to availability in Amplifier's sole discretion. Clients should be aware that any items discarded at Amplifier are subject to "Dumpster Pirates." In the event clients do not want their products pilfered and potentially resold, certified destruction or special haul to the dump should be considered. Fees apply.

Donations

Unwanted inventory can be donated to charities or non-profits of your choice. Amplifier can ship your items to the desired destination, or a pickup can be arranged with a third party.

Liquid Disposal

Liquid waste is not accepted at the landfill. If your liquid inventory is compostable, there are several facilities near Amplifier's warehouse that may be able to accept it, subject to each facility's acceptance policies. While it is the client's responsibility to dispose of these items, we do our best to assist as best as we can to find potential options for disposal. There may be instances where we are unable to support the request and facilitate disposal of an order.

Additional Notes and Amplifier Policies:

  • Following discussion of details with the Client Success team, all disposal orders require placing a manual order in My.Amplifier, with "Special Handling" selected as the shipping method. Regular fulfillment fees apply.

  • Removal and disposal requests are handled on a case-by-case basis and can take a month or more to process. During Q4, Amplifier reserves the right to postpone any large disposal or exit/departure orders (as solely defined by Amplifier) until Q1 of the next year.

  • Disposal of your merchandise may be subject to additional handling and fees, in general like a normal outbound order. However, inventory requiring inspection or inventory that needs additional handling prior to disposal may incur additional handling charges. Amplifier at its discretion may refuse to accept a disposal order. Storage and SKU fees will continue to be assessed until all inventory is either disposed of or shipped out.
