Deliveries that arrive at Amplifier can be classified by our Receiving personnel into one of three categories:

  • Non-Compliant Delivery "Waiting for an ASN"

  • Non-Compliant Delivery "ASNed but Boxes Unlabelled"

  • Compliant Delivery - Properly ASNed and Labelled Delivery

To distinguish these types of deliveries from each other, our personnel drop color-coded "hats" onto the deliveries denoting their state.

Non-Compliant "Waiting for an ASN" Deliveries

(To protect our Clients' identity, we have blacked out their company name.)

Boxes and pallets which arrive unannounced receive a Red Hat (a.k.a. Dunce Cap) to heap shame upon the heads of those who sent it. These are the worst kinds of deliveries. The work involved in identifying this inventory is not worth anyone's time or money. Yet not a week goes by without one of these deliveries blighting our dock. Please note that when a client or their supplier delivers unlabeled inventory with no digital ASN, they virtually assure an additional 5-10 days of processing time before the inventory will be received. Amplifier will always handle these deliveries last. (While this can be frustrating for Clients, keep in mind that many logistics companies would turn this delivery away completely for failing to adhere to proper process.)

Non-Compliant Delivery "ASNed but Boxes Unlabeled"

Though far less shameful than a Red Hat Delivery, a Blue Hat Delivery denotes a shipment which had a digital ASN created but never went to the trouble to print and label the boxes. This requires significant additional handling as we must open every box and count every item and then print the labels ourselves. These also ensure delayed processing, though they usually go faster than Red Hat deliveries.

Compliant Deliveries

ASNs that have been properly created and labelled earn the proud Green Hat. They enjoy the fast lane treatment at our dock and are practically ready to be Put Away. Faster receiving means faster selling, because once your inventory is received you are able to sell it on your online store. In the image below, you can see a large delivery where all boxes show proper labelling.

Once we have your delivery completely received into Inventory, Amplifier updates your records to show that they are now AVAILABLE.
